Quick answer: the Nintendo Switch OLED costs about ₹35,000 on Amazon.in, well below the roughly ₹49,500 it costs to import one from Amazon US.
The Nintendo Switch price in India is at its best for the OLED model, which sits at about ₹35,000 on Amazon.in. That’s below Nintendo’s own US price converted to rupees, before you even count duty, so this is the rare console where buying in India beats importing by a wide margin.
The OLED is the older, cheaper Switch. It has the same chip as the 2017 console, so what you’re paying for is a better 7-inch OLED screen, longer battery life and the entire Switch library, not more speed. Below is what it costs, where I’d buy it, how to set it up here, and how it stacks up against the Switch 2.
Nintendo Switch price in India
Nintendo sells the Switch OLED for $399.99 in the US. At about ₹94.5 to the dollar that’s roughly ₹37,800, and with about 31% customs duty and IGST it lands near ₹49,500. Amazon US adds that duty to the checkout total. Against that, Amazon.in lists the white OLED at about ₹35,000, so buying here saves you around ₹14,500 and a two-week wait.
| Where | What you pay | Delivery |
|---|---|---|
| Amazon.in | About ₹35,000 | 2 to 5 days |
| Amazon US | $399.99 list, about ₹49,500 delivered with duty | 10 to 15 days |
| Indian importer stores | ₹33,000 to ₹38,000 | Varies by store |
Nintendo Switch OLED
The cheapest way into the whole Switch library, with the best screen Nintendo has put on a Switch.
Pros
- 7-inch OLED screen with deep blacks, and no burn-in in Tom’s Guide’s 1,800-hour test
- Battery lasts about twice as long as a Switch 2 in the tests I found
- About ₹35,000 on Amazon.in, far below an import
- Plays every Switch 1 game and takes ordinary microSD cards
- Dock has a wired LAN port
Cons
- No speed upgrade over the 2017 Switch, and 720p in handheld mode
- Joy-Con drift is a known weakness
- Doesn’t play Switch 2 exclusives
Nintendo Life called the OLED a worthy upgrade mainly for the screen: deeper blacks, better colour, a sturdier kickstand and a wired LAN port in the dock. Nobody found a performance boost, because there isn’t one. It’s a 1280×720 OLED panel in handheld mode, and the dock sends up to 1080p to your TV.
Battery is where it shines next to the new console. Nintendo claims 4.5 to 9 hours, and Tom’s Guide measured 5 hours of YouTube at full brightness. Tom’s Guide also ran an 1,800-hour static-image test and found no burn-in, which is the worry most people have with an OLED handheld. If you play on a commute or in bed, this is the Switch I’d hand you. The OLED panel is also the reason it feels like a different console from the 2017 model, even though the games run the same.
It has 64 GB built in, and ordinary microSD cards up to 2 TB add the rest. That’s cheaper than the microSD Express cards a Switch 2 needs. My microSD cards for the Nintendo Switch list has the ones I’d pick. The console weighs about 320 g, or 420 g with the Joy-Con attached.
How to buy the Nintendo Switch OLED in India
Option 1: Amazon.in
This is the route I’d take. Amazon.in lists the Switch OLED at about ₹35,000, with Indian delivery in a few days, an Indian invoice and Amazon’s normal return window. Croma and Reliance Digital sell it too, if you’d rather walk into a store.
Option 2: Amazon US
Amazon US works the same way for the OLED as for any console I’ve ordered, though at about ₹49,500 landed it costs more than Amazon.in. Here’s how an order goes:
- Set your delivery address on Amazon.com to your Indian address. The product page then tells you right away whether that listing ships to India.
- Pick an offer at or near Nintendo’s $399.99 list price.
- At checkout, Amazon adds shipping and an import fee deposit. The total on that screen is what you pay.
- When the parcel reaches India, the courier sends an SMS and an email with a KYC link. On my orders that was Aramex. Upload your Aadhaar or PAN and that step is done.
- The console reaches your door in about 10 to 15 days from the order.
If the US page says it can’t ship to your address, use the Amazon.in listing instead. The full process is in how I buy gadgets from Amazon US.
Setting it up in India
Switch cartridges aren’t region locked outside China, so a boxed game from India, the US or Japan runs on any Switch OLED. That’s the simplest way to build a library here, and it skips the account question completely.
For downloads you need a Nintendo Account, and the eShop follows that account’s country. India isn’t one of Nintendo’s eShop countries, so most Indian owners set up a US or Japanese account and top it up with eShop gift cards from the same country. Gift cards only work in their own region, so pick one country and stick with it. My Nintendo Switch 2 price guide walks through the same account setup for the new console.
The adapter is rated 100 to 240 V at 50/60 Hz, so India’s 230 V is fine. A unit from the US comes with a US plug, which needs a plug adapter, and the console also charges from a USB-C PD charger; Gaming Nation says a 30 to 45 W one is plenty. The dock’s LAN port is worth using for online play, and a short Cat 8 Ethernet cable costs very little. For quiet late-night play, a headset helps, and my budget gaming headsets for PC and console are a good place to start.
Alternatives you can buy in India
The Nintendo Switch 2 is about ₹60,000 on Amazon.in. It’s much faster, sends 4K to the TV from the dock and plays the new exclusives. Its LCD is blurrier in motion than the OLED, and Nintendo Life measured 2 hours 10 minutes of battery in Mario Kart World, so it suits people who play docked.
The Switch Lite is the cheapest Switch, at around ₹20,000 in Indian stores. If you’d rather emulate older consoles on games you own, the Retroid Pocket handhelds are Android devices that handle PS2 and below. All of these are ranked in my best handheld gaming consoles in India guide.
Warranty and support
Nintendo’s warranty covers the country a console was meant to be sold in, so a unit bought from the US has no Nintendo cover in India. Croma and Reliance Digital sell the Switch OLED with an Indian invoice and a one-year retailer warranty, which is the way to go if local cover matters to you. Amazon’s return window covers an Amazon-fulfilled order, and later repairs go to local console technicians.
Frequently asked questions
What is the Nintendo Switch price in India?
The Switch OLED is about ₹35,000 on Amazon.in, the Switch Lite is around ₹20,000, and the Switch 2 is about ₹60,000. Indian importer stores sell the OLED for ₹33,000 to ₹38,000.
What is the Nintendo Switch OLED price in India?
About ₹35,000 on Amazon.in. Importing one from Amazon US at the $399.99 list price comes to about ₹49,500 with duty, so Amazon.in is clearly cheaper.
Is the Nintendo Switch OLED available in India?
Yes. Amazon.in lists it, Croma and Reliance Digital sell it in their stores, and Indian importer stores carry it too.
Switch OLED vs Switch 2: which should I buy?
Buy the OLED if you mostly play handheld and want to save about ₹25,000. Its battery measured about 5 hours in Tom’s Guide’s test and its screen is better in motion. Buy the Switch 2 for the new exclusives and 4K docked play.
Does the Switch OLED work on Indian power?
Yes. The adapter takes 100 to 240 V at 50/60 Hz, so it runs on 230 V. A US unit only needs a plug adapter, or you can charge it from a USB-C PD charger.
Is the Switch OLED still worth buying?
Yes, at about ₹35,000. It plays the whole Switch 1 library, which is huge, and it costs a little over half what a Switch 2 does on Amazon.in. The newest Nintendo exclusives are the only thing it misses out on.
Verdict
If you want a Switch for handheld play and the full Switch library, buy the OLED on Amazon.in at about ₹35,000 and skip the import. It lasts about twice as long on battery as a Switch 2 in the measurements I found, and the screen is lovely. Pick the Switch 2 only if you want the new exclusives and can spend about ₹25,000 more.
