Nvidia Shield TV Pro in India: Price and Where to Buy

Nvidia Shield TV Pro in India: price and where to buy

Quick answer: there is no official Shield TV Pro price in India, but it lands at about ₹37,000 from Amazon US. It’s also listed on Amazon.in, so compare both before you pay.

The Nvidia Shield TV Pro is still the streaming box I’d pick if picture and sound matter more to you than anything else. It plays Dolby Vision, sends Dolby Atmos, DTS:X and TrueHD straight to a receiver, and has two USB 3.0 ports for a hard drive full of your own films. No other box on sale does all of that.

Nvidia has never launched it in India, so buying one takes a bit more thought than adding a Fire TV Stick to your cart. Below is what it costs here, the two places I’d buy it, how the Amazon US order works, and what to get instead if the Shield is more box than you need.

Nvidia Shield TV Pro price in India

Nvidia sells the Shield TV Pro for $299.99 in the US. At about ₹94.5 to the dollar that’s roughly ₹28,300. Personal imports pay about 31% in customs duty and IGST, which brings the total to around ₹37,000. Amazon US adds that duty to the checkout total before you pay, so nothing extra is collected at your door.

Nvidia Shield TV Pro

The best box for a home theatre setup or a big Plex library. Old hardware, but nothing newer matches its audio passthrough and ports.

Pros

  • Passes Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, DTS-HD and TrueHD to a receiver
  • Dolby Vision and HDR10 at 4K 60 fps
  • Gigabit Ethernet and two USB 3.0 ports
  • AI upscaling makes 1080p shows look sharper on a 4K TV
  • Backlit remote with an IR blaster that controls your TV and soundbar

Cons

  • No HDR10+
  • Wi-Fi 5 and HDMI 2.0b, because the design dates from 2019
  • Nvidia raised the price by $100, so it now costs twice a Google TV Streamer

Inside is Nvidia’s Tegra X1+ with 3 GB of RAM and 16 GB of storage, and a USB drive adds as much space as you want. The chip is old, but the Shield still moves through menus faster than any Fire TV Stick I’ve used. It also plays 4K HEVC files from a home server without fuss.

Audio is the reason I keep recommending it. If you own an AV receiver, the Shield sends the original Atmos, DTS:X, DTS-HD and TrueHD tracks through untouched. The Fire TV Cube, Google TV Streamer and Apple TV 4K don’t list DTS or TrueHD passthrough at all. For a library ripped from Blu-rays, that one difference decides it.

The gaps are real but narrow. There’s no HDR10+, which matters mostly if you have a Samsung TV. Wi-Fi tops out at Wi-Fi 5, so I plug mine into Ethernet. None of that gets in the way of 4K Dolby Vision at 60 fps.

How to buy the Shield TV Pro in India

Option 1: Amazon.in

Amazon.in has a product page for the Shield TV Pro, and it’s the quickest way to get one. You get Indian delivery, an Indian invoice and Amazon’s normal return window. Open the listing and compare its price with the Amazon US total below.

Option 2: Amazon US

I’ve bought most of my streaming boxes this way. Here’s how an order goes:

  1. Set your delivery address on Amazon.com to your Indian address. The product page then tells you right away whether that listing ships to India.
  2. Pick an offer at or near Nvidia’s $299.99 list price. Skip anything priced at double that.
  3. At checkout, Amazon adds shipping and an import fee deposit. The total on that screen is what you pay.
  4. When the parcel reaches India, the courier sends an SMS and an email with a KYC link. On my orders that was Aramex. Upload your Aadhaar or PAN and that step is done.
  5. The box reaches your door in about 10 to 15 days from the order.

That’s it. If the US page says it can’t ship to your address, use the Amazon.in listing instead. I’ve written up the whole process inhow I buy gadgets from Amazon US.

Setting it up in India

A US Shield works in India like any other Android TV box. Your apps follow the country of your Google account, not the country the box came from. Sign in with your usual Indian account and the Play Store shows Netflix, Prime Video, YouTube and JioHotstar as normal. Plex, Kodi and Stremio install the same way.

The power brick has a US two-pin plug. Read the label on it: if it says 100–240 V, a plain plug adapter is all you need for India’s 230 V sockets.

Use the Ethernet port if your router is anywhere near the TV. A short Cat 8 Ethernet cable costs very little and keeps 4K remuxes from buffering. If the router is in another room, a better Wi-Fi router makes more difference than anything you change on the Shield. Mounting the TV on the wall? My TV wall mount picks leave room behind the panel for a small box like this.

Alternatives you can buy in India today

The Google TV Streamer is my second choice. It costs about half as much, adds HDR10+ to Dolby Vision, and has a newer Android 14 base. What it gives up is DTS and TrueHD passthrough and the USB ports. Amazon.in has a listing for it.

The Fire TV Stick 4K Plus is the easy buy. It’s about ₹5,500 on Amazon.in, does Dolby Vision, HDR10+ and Atmos, and still lets you sideload apps. It’s far less powerful than a Shield, but for Netflix and Prime Video it’s plenty.

The Apple TV 4K is the one with an official India price, ₹39,900. It suits a home full of iPhones. It doesn’t sideload apps or list DTS passthrough.

Still stuck between the top two? I’ve put them side by side in Shield TV Pro vs Google TV Streamer. My full ranking is in best streaming device in India.

Warranty and support

Nvidia doesn’t run Shield service in India, so the maker’s warranty stays with the country you bought it from. Amazon’s return window still covers an Amazon-fulfilled order, so a faulty unit goes back the usual way. Nvidia has kept updating this 2019 hardware for years and says it will keep supporting the Shield.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Nvidia Shield TV Pro available in India?

Nvidia doesn’t sell it officially, but you can still buy one. Amazon.in lists it, and Amazon US delivers it to India with duty added at checkout.

What is the Nvidia Shield TV Pro price in India?

About ₹37,000 delivered from Amazon US at the $299.99 list price, duty included. Indian importer stores charge ₹47,000 to ₹55,000 for the same box.

Is a new Nvidia Shield TV Pro coming?

Nothing has been announced. Nvidia has said its team is testing new ideas and would build a new Shield if one of them excites the team. Meanwhile the current model keeps getting updates.

Is the Shield TV Pro still worth buying?

Yes, if you have an AV receiver or a big Plex or Kodi library. Few boxes offer DTS-HD and TrueHD passthrough, and fewer still have USB 3.0 ports. If you only stream Netflix and Prime Video, a Fire TV Stick 4K Plus does that for a fraction of the price.

Nvidia Shield TV Pro vs Apple TV 4K: which should I buy?

The Apple TV 4K has newer hardware, HDR10+ and an official India price of ₹39,900, so it suits an iPhone home. The Shield wins for home theatre audio, sideloaded apps and playing files from a USB drive.

Will a US Shield TV Pro work in India?

Yes. Streaming apps follow your Google account’s country, not where the box was bought. You only need a plug adapter for the US power brick.

Verdict

Buy the Shield TV Pro if you have a receiver, a big media library, or both. Compare the Amazon.in price with the Amazon US checkout total, which already includes duty, and take the lower one. If you mostly watch Netflix and Prime Video, keep the money and get the Google TV Streamer or a Fire TV Stick 4K Plus.
