Quick answer: the Boox Palma 2 Pro costs about ₹55,000 on Amazon.in, or about ₹49,500 delivered from Amazon US with duty. It’s the Palma I’d buy today, unless you want the cheaper monochrome Palma 3.
The Boox Palma is a phone-sized e-ink device that runs Android, so the Kindle, Kobo and library apps you already use all go on one screen that fits in a shirt pocket. There are three models to know about: the monochrome Palma 2, the colour Palma 2 Pro and the new monochrome Palma 3. For most people in India the Palma 2 Pro is the one to buy.
Boox doesn’t run an Indian store, but buying one is simple. Below is what the Palma costs here, the three places I’d buy it from, how the Amazon US order works, how it compares with the Kindle Colorsoft, and what to get if a pocket screen turns out to be too small for you.
Boox Palma price in India
The Palma 2 Pro lists at $399.99 on Amazon US. At about ₹94.5 to the dollar that’s roughly ₹37,800. Personal imports pay about 31% in customs duty and IGST (10% basic duty, a 10% surcharge on that duty, and 18% IGST on the total), which brings it to around ₹49,500. Amazon US adds the duty to the checkout total, so you see the full number before you pay. Amazon.in has the same device at about ₹55,000, delivered in a few days.
| Where | What you pay | Delivery |
|---|---|---|
| Amazon.in | About ₹55,000 | 2 to 5 days |
| Amazon US | $399.99 list, about ₹49,500 delivered with duty | 10 to 15 days |
| Boox shop | Boox’s dollar price, plus duty you pay as the importer | 7 to 15 business days after dispatch |
Boox Palma 2 Pro
The best Boox Palma right now: a colour e-ink screen, Android 15 and 5G data in something the size of a phone.
Pros
- 6.13-inch Kaleido 3 colour e-ink screen that fits in a pocket
- Android 15 with the Play Store, so Kindle, Kobo and other reading apps install normally
- Snapdragon 750G, 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage
- 5G data, GPS and a hybrid microSD or nano SIM slot
- Works with the InkSense Plus stylus for quick notes
Cons
- Pen lag is too high for fast handwriting
- Colour looks dim with the front light off
- The stylus is extra ($49.99 in the US)
The screen is 824 x 1648, which works out to 300 ppi for black-and-white text and 150 ppi in colour. That’s sharp enough for novels and fine for comic covers and coloured highlights. At about 175 g it’s light enough to read one-handed on a crowded metro, and that’s the whole point of a Palma: you carry it where you’d never take a 10-inch tablet.
Because it’s a full Android device, you aren’t tied to one bookstore. Kindle and Kobo sit side by side on the same home screen, next to a notes app. The Gadgeteer’s review found it good for reading and quick notes, called the pen only okay, and said the colour screen is dim when the front light is off. That matches what I’d expect from colour e-ink: it suits highlights and covers, not photos.
It takes a nano SIM for mobile data, so it can sync books and notes away from Wi-Fi. It isn’t certified for voice calls, so think of it as a reader that’s always online, not a second phone.
Boox Palma 2 Pro vs Palma 3
Boox has added the Palma 3 to its line-up. It’s a monochrome model with the same pocket size and stylus support, and it’s cheaper than the Pro. If you only read black-and-white text and want to spend less, it’s the one to look at. If you want colour covers, colour highlights and mobile data, the Palma 2 Pro is still the pick.
| Model | Screen | Pen | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Boox Palma 2 Pro | 6.13-inch colour e-ink | InkSense Plus, sold separately | Colour, 5G and the most RAM |
| Boox Palma 3 | 6.13-inch monochrome e-ink | Supported, sold separately | Plain reading for less money |
You’ll also see the older Palma 2 around. It’s monochrome, with 6 GB of RAM and Android 13. The Pro adds colour, the stylus, mobile data and Android 15, and that’s the version I’d spend on.
Boox Palma vs Kindle Colorsoft
These are the two small colour e-ink devices people compare most, and they’re different kinds of thing. The Kindle Colorsoft is a 7-inch reader built around Amazon’s store. It’s waterproof, has 16 GB of storage and doesn’t take a pen. The Palma 2 Pro is a 6.13-inch Android device that runs Kindle, Kobo and anything else from the Play Store, and it works with a stylus.
The Colorsoft is simpler and cheaper. It’s $289.99 on Amazon US, which is about ₹36,000 delivered with duty, and you order it from there because Amazon.in doesn’t list it. The Palma costs more but does more: several book apps, quick notes and mobile data.
| Device | Screen | Pen | Software | Price in India |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Boox Palma 2 Pro | 6.13-inch colour | Yes, sold separately | Android 15 | About ₹55,000 on Amazon.in |
| Kindle Colorsoft | 7-inch colour | No | Kindle | About ₹36,000 from Amazon US |
My rule is simple. If every book you own is on Kindle and you only read, get the Colorsoft. If your books are spread across apps, or you want to jot notes on the same device, get the Palma.
How to buy the Boox Palma in India
Option 1: Amazon.in
Amazon.in has a listing for the Palma 2 Pro at about ₹55,000. It’s the quickest route: Indian delivery, an Indian invoice and Amazon’s normal return window. It costs about ₹5,500 more than the Amazon US total, so you’re paying for speed and convenience.
Option 2: Amazon US
Boox sells on Amazon US through its BOOX Official store. Here’s how an order to India goes:
- Set your delivery address on Amazon.com to your Indian address. The product page then tells you whether that listing ships to India.
- Pick the BOOX Official offer at or near the $399.99 list price.
- At checkout, Amazon adds shipping and an import fee deposit. The total on that screen is what you pay.
- When the parcel reaches India, the courier sends an SMS and an email with a KYC link. On my orders that was Aramex. Upload your Aadhaar or PAN and that step is done.
- The Palma reaches your door in about 10 to 15 days from the order.
If the US page says it can’t ship to your address, use the Amazon.in listing instead. I’ve written up the full process in how I buy gadgets from Amazon US.
Option 3: the Boox shop
Boox’s own online shop ships worldwide from Shenzhen or from its US and EU warehouses, and it’s the place to find the Palma 3. Delivery takes 7 to 15 business days after dispatch. You’re the importer on these orders, so the duty is paid when the parcel arrives rather than at checkout. Budget about 31% on top of the device price.
Setting it up in India
Sign in to the Play Store with your usual Google account and install your reading apps: Kindle, Kobo, Google Play Books, whatever holds your library. They behave the same as on your phone, just in e-ink. Boox’s Android is a trimmed build, so spend ten minutes in its settings choosing a refresh mode for each app. A faster mode for scrolling apps and a cleaner one for books makes a visible difference.
The slot takes either a nano SIM or a microSD card, so decide which you want more. If it’s storage, my microSD card picks work just as well in a Palma as in a Switch. If you want to load comics or PDFs from a laptop, a small card reader makes moving files quick.
Alternatives you can buy in India
The Boox Go Color 7 (Gen II) is the step up in screen size. It’s a 7-inch colour Boox with stylus support, and it costs less than the Palma 2 Pro in the US. I cover it with the larger Note Air6 C in my Boox tablets in India guide.
The Kobo Libra Colour is the colour reader you can buy here without importing. Kobo India sells it on Amazon.in for about ₹22,800. It’s waterproof, has page-turn buttons and reads ePub, though it doesn’t run Android apps.
If you’d rather write than read, a bigger notebook suits you better than any Palma. My best e-ink tablet in India ranking covers the Kindle Scribe, reMarkable Paper Pro and the rest.
Warranty and support
Boox gives one year of warranty on core devices bought from its main shop. For an Amazon order, the warranty terms are on the listing, and Amazon’s return window covers a faulty unit in the usual way. Keep the invoice, because any claim starts with whoever sold you the Palma.

Verdict
Buy the Boox Palma 2 Pro if you want one pocket device for all your book apps, in colour. Amazon US is the cheaper route at about ₹49,500 with duty, and Amazon.in is the faster one at about ₹55,000. If you only read plain text, look at the Palma 3, and if you only read Kindle books, the Kindle Colorsoft does the job for less.
